Meet Eric, a Public Service Professional
My experiences living in California have instilled in me a deep appreciation for strong communities, and I'm dedicated to making San Jacinto an even better place to live.
The world of color and transformation wasn't just on the faces of celebrities—it was my canvas for twenty years. As a successful professional makeup artist, I reveled in the creative energy of the entertainment industry. But life, with its unexpected turns, presented a new challenge. A personal health battle forced me to reevaluate my priorities, igniting a long-dormant desire to serve my community.
This wasn't entirely foreign territory. My academic foundation in social justice, built on a bachelor's degree in public administration and a minor in pre-law, always fueled a passion for tackling complex issues. With renewed purpose, I transitioned from the world of makeup to the world of policy, determined to make a real difference.
My entertainment experiences proved surprisingly valuable in this new arena. Having collaborated with major networks and award-winning projects, I understand the power of clear communication and strategic storytelling. This skillset and extensive policy research experience allow me to bridge the gap between theory and practice. I believe informed decision-making is crucial, and I'm dedicated to using my media savvy to combat misinformation and promote good governance.
My desire for learning never waned. I'm pursuing a Master's in Public Administration (MPA) at the University of La Verne, further deepening my understanding of policy and governance. This pursuit of knowledge goes hand-in-hand with my leadership roles. As the incoming 2024-2025 Executive Secretary for the Graduate and Adult Student Government (GASG), I represent the voices of my fellow students and work towards solutions that benefit the community.
I am pleased to announce that I will commence my doctoral studies in public administration (DPA) in the fall of 2025.
My journey isn't just about personal growth; it's about making a tangible difference. I'm proud to be a San Jacinto City Council candidate. Empty platitudes have no place in my vision. I'm committed to prioritizing data-driven policies over empty promises.
My passion for social justice extends beyond the classroom and policy arena. I actively volunteer with organizations like the Red Cross, Voices for Children, MoveOn.org, and the Anti-Racism Commitment Coalition. These experiences have provided invaluable first-hand knowledge of our community's challenges and solidified my commitment to fighting for equality and justice for all. Additionally, my role on the IHSS-Public Authority Advisory Committee allows me to contribute directly to shaping policies that support our most vulnerable residents.
My experiences, both personal and professional, have shaped me into a fighter.
